Biography

Aidan A. Raney M.D., F.A.C.C. obtained his medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California and graduated with honors. He then received his surgical training at Stanford University Medical Center in General and Cardiothoracic Surgery. There he also participated in research in cardiac and lung transplantation.

Dr. Raney first practiced cardiothoracic surgery at Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego. During this time he was also Associate Clinical Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the UC San Diego Medical Center. In 1987, Dr. Raney became Co-Director and then Director of Cardiac Surgery in Newport Beach for thirty years. During that interval, he helped establish Hoag Hospital as a regional referral center for cardiac surgery. He retired from clinical practice in 2019.

Dr. Raney currently serves on the board of directors for OCTANE and the Hoag Memorial Hospital Foundation. He consults on medical legal and medical device matters.

Dr. Raney and his wife Ann live in Laguna Beach where they raised their six children. Today, they enjoy spending time with their family and friends.
